Playoff Semifinals

The playoff semifinals are getting so intense and so close. In the Eastern Conference the Cleveland Cavaliers are up ahead 3-0 against the Atlanta Hawks. They have a strong lead and could be the first team to gain a spot in the finals. The Toronto Raptors are also 2-1 against Miami Heat, but it's very close. In the Western Conference, the San Antonio Spurs are ahead of Oklahoma City Thunder, 2-1. Spurs have a really good chance of winning this series, I mean after all they are the second best team in the league. Finally the Golden State Warriors are ahead the Portland Trailblazers, 2-1. The first two games, Warriors have swiped the ground with the Trailblazers, but yesterday the Warriors got swiped by the Trailblazers. With Curry out of the game so far, it had been pretty tough for the Warriors. Stephen Curry might return on Monday for game 4, depending on how he feels and what the coach thinks. These games are really anybody's games. If they work hard enough they can do it.

Curry's Ankle

During game one of the Warriors v.s. Rockets, Stephen Curry had sprained his ankle. He was only able to play during the first half of the game and had to sit down the last half of the game. The Warriors still won game one, 104-78. Curry had still scored 24 points which helped out the team. When it came to decide if Curry was going to play game two against the Rockets, it was a very difficult decision. Coach Kerr finally decided that it was best if he would sit out the game, and rest his ankle. The Warriors still won game two against the Rockets without Curry. The final score being 115-106, is a pretty good lead they had. Now it had come to decide if Curry was able to play for game 3. This decision was even harder to make, but the coach decided to sit him down again. Curry insisted on playing because he said his ankle felt better, but coach Kerr didn't want to risk any further injuries to his ankle. The Warriors unfortunately had lost game 3 to the Rockets with the final score being 97-96. It was such a close game that the Warriors did indeed have a chance to win the game. Now today Warriors are going to playing game 4 and there is a good chance that Curry will be playing, but he is still probable. Hopefully he has recovered from his injury and is okay to play today. Without the team's MVP it certainly changes the game.

Playoffs Have Started!

On Saturday April 16, the NBA 2015-2016 playoffs had begun. Each team that made it to the playoffs was paired up with another team, from the same division, to compete against for 5 straight games. Whoever wins 3 out of the 5 games, moves on to round 2 of the playoffs. In the Western Conference, the Golden State Warriors were paired with Houston Rockets, L.A. Clippers with Portland Trailblazers, Oklahoma City Thunder with Dallas Mavericks, and San Antonio Spurs with Memphis Grizzlies. In the Eastern Conference, the Cleveland Cavaliers were paired with Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks with Boston Celtics, Miami Heat with Charlotte Hornets, and Toronto Raptors with Indiana Pacers. So far the Warriors, Thunder, Cavaliers, Hawks, Heat, and Pacers have one win while their opponents have zero. The Clippers, Trailblazers, Spurs, and Grizzlies have not played their first game yet and will play later today. Tune in every week to see new updates on the NBA playoffs!

73 wins?

The Golden State Warriors are so close to beating the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls record for most wins in a season. Right now they have 71 wins and 9 losses. They only have two games left, and they have to win those two in order to beat the record of 72 wins in a season. Yesterday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies was a really tough game for the Warriors to beat, but they won. At halftime the score was 83-80, with the Warriors lead by 3. In the last minute of the game, the Grizzlies were up by one point, 99-98. Curry drives for the lay-up and misses, but Green tips it in. The Warriors were now up by one point. The Grizzlies had a chance to beat the Warriors with just one shot, but they missed. The Warriors survived this game with the final score being 100-99. Today the Warriors are going to be playing against the San Antonio Spurs, and will try to get their 72nd win. If they win this game, then it is all up to Wednesday, against Grizzlies, to see if the Warriors will beat the Bulls record.

Celtics Break the Warriors

On Friday April first, the Golden State Warriors were defeated by the Boston Celtics. By the end of the first quarter the Warriors were up by 2 with the score being 23-21. Then by halftime the Celtics were up by 2 with the score being, 45-43. With the third quarter ending, the score was 82-79, with the Celtics still leading the game. Near the end of the fourth quarter it was really intense. The Warriors only needed a three pointer and they would tie with the Celtics, which leads to overtime. Curry shot the three and missed, then Barnes shot again with the last try and still didn't make it. The Celtics won with the final score being 109-106. Not only did the Celtics defeat the Warriors, but they also broke the Warriors record for home win streak. Their streak was 54 home wins, but now it has been broken by the Celtics. The Warriors have six games left in this season, and to beat the Chicago Bulls record, most wins in a regular season, then they have to win five out of those six games. To tie the record they only need to win 4 more games, but we all want them to beat the record. This will be really tough, but it is possible.

Playoffs...

The 2015-2016 NBA playoffs are rounding in very soon. The playoffs officially start on April 16, 2016. The regular season started on October 27, 2015 and will end on April 13, 2016. So far there are only 4 teams that have landed a spot in the playoffs. From the Western Conference, the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, and Oklahoma City Thunder have made it into the playoffs. From the Eastern Conference only the Cleveland Cavaliers have landed a spot in the playoffs. Even though these four teams have made it into the playoffs, they are still not done playing for the regular season, They still have to finish the rest of the regular season games, in order to see which other teams will be advancing into the playoffs. In the Western Conference there are five more spots available to go to the playoffs. As of right now those five spots are taken by the LA Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trailblazers, Houston Rockets, and the Dallas Mavericks. In the Eastern Conference there are seven spots available for the playoffs, but currently are taken by the Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets, Indiana Pacers, and the Chicago Bulls. Any of these teams could be bumped off before the regular season ends if they aren't at their best. The playoffs are so close, but yet so far.

Curry Shoes

I'm pretty sure that we all know that Stephen Curry has his own line of basketball shoes. First the Curry ones came out, but then recently the Curry twos came out as well. These Under Armour shoes are very popular, but the question is: Why did Stephen Curry get signed with Under Armour instead of Nike? Well first of all Nike did indeed approach Stephen Curry to sign a contract, to get his line of shoes, but Curry had one condition. His only condition was that he would be able to put his favorite Bible verse from the Philippians, 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me." The Nike company didn't like this idea, so Curry did not sign the contract with Nike. After that Under Armour approached him and they liked and accepted Curry's condition. Stephen Curry's shoes are the fastest selling item by Under Armour. He has many different colors of both his Curry one and Curry two shoes, but his Curry two shoes are the most popular right now. Below are some of his famous Curry Two shoes.

Warriors VS Lakers

Today the Golden State Warriors played against the L.A. Lakers. Surprisingly the champs lost to the Lakers. Most of the game the Lakers were overpowering the Warriors. By the end of the first quarter the score was 22-21 with Lakers up by one. At halftime the score was 60-49 with Lakers still winning. By the third quarter the Lakers were winning with 84-73. Finally the game came to an end with the final score being 112-95. The Warriors now have 55 wins and 6 losses and the Lakers have 13 wins and 51 losses. If Warriors want to try and still beat the Chicago Bulls record for most wins in a season, then they can't lose more than three games. The Bulls record is 72-10, and will be a tough record to beat. In my opinion I think that the Warriors will beat the record. These past few games have been hard to beat, but they still pull through it. Today was not Curry's day, while only scoring 18 points throughout the whole game. This is very rare for him to score very low. This is just one of Curry's bad games, but I guarantee that he will still continue to impress everyone with his ridiculous threes.

First Spot For Playoffs Goes To ...

Golden State Warriors! The Warriors got a very early spot to the 2016 playoffs on Saturday night. When the Houston Rockets lost to the San Antonio Spurs The Warriors were already guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. It is the earliest that any team has gotten into the playoffs in NBA history, and beating the 1986 Boston Celtics by only one day. Not only have they landed a spot for the playoffs, but they were also the fastest team to 50 wins. That same day the Warriors played against Oklahoma City Thunder, and it was a very intense game. At the end of the first quarter, Oklahoma was ahead by ten points, 30-20. By the end of halftime, Oklahoma was still ahead by eleven points, 57-46. In the third quarter, the score was 83-78 with Oklahoma still ahead. At the end of the fourth quarter both teams tied, 103-103. Stephen Curry made the last winning shot with a big three pointer. It was about 35 feet away from the basket. That is an incredible shot to make with only a few seconds left. The Warriors are doing really good in this season and will continue on playing their hardest.

Updates

Last Sunday was the 2016 All-Star game. The winner was the Western Conference. In the first half, most of the time the Eastern Conference was leading the game. There was no defense at all the first half and there was just dunks back and forth. At halftime the score was 52-47, the Western Conference Leading by 5. In the second half of the game it started to get intense. It was harder to score against each other, and there was more defense. This led to the final score of 196-173. On Thursday there was three games. The first one was Utah Jazz VS Washington Wizards, and the final score was 103-89 with Wizards winning. The next game was Chicago Bulls against Cleveland Cavaliers, and the score was 106-95 with Cavs winning. The last game that day was San Antonio Spurs against LA Clippers with the Clippers victory of 105-86. On Friday there was 14 games, but two of those stood out the most. The first one was the loss of the Warriors against Portland Trailblazers,137-105. The score was very surprising for the Warriors considering they haven't lost by this much. The next game that stood out was the LA Lakers VS San Antonio Spurs. Lakers lost by 6 points, 119-113, but that wasn't what stood out. During the game Kobe Bryant dislocated his finger while trying to get the ball. Right after he got it popped back in and immediately started playing. Yesterday, Saturday, the game that stood out was the victory of the Warriors against the LA Clippers. The final score was 115-112, Warriors taking the lead by 3.

All-Star Game

Tomorrow, February 14, 2016,  is the 65th edition of the NBA All-Star game. It will be held at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, at 5:00 on TNT. After this game the second half of the NBA season will officially begin. So basically this second half will be even harder and tougher, with the playoffs coming up. In the All-Star game the 24 best players are picked to represent their Conference as All-Star players. So each conference has 12 players representing them. This year's Western conference roster is, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, Draymond Green, James Harden, Chris Paul, Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, and LaMarcus Aldridge. These are all extraordinary players that deserve to play for the All-Star game. The Eastern Conference roster is, LeBron James, Paul George, Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade, Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler, DeMar DeRozan, Paul Millsap, Andre Drummond, Chris Bosh, John Wall, Isaiah Thomas, Pau Gasol, and Al Horford. These are also amazing players that should be playing. There are many other great players that should play in this game, but these are the best. I personally go for the Western Conference, and I think that they have a high chance of winning this game.

New Record

We all know that the Golden State Warriors beat the record for most wins to start of a season, but can they beat the next one? The next record to beat is the Chicago Bulls, 72 wins and 10 losses. Micheal Jordan led the bulls to this record in 1995-1996. No other team has ever won 70 games in NBA history. Last season the Warriors ended up with 67-15 before going into the playoffs. Right now they have 46 wins and 4 losses. The Warriors have a good chance of beating this record, but it will be very hard. Yesterday the Warriors played against Oklahoma City Thunder, and was a tough game. Although most of the time the Warriors were ahead, Oklahoma was close behind. The game ended with Warriors wining, 116-108. Following the Warriors close behind is the San Antonio Spurs with 43 wins and 8 losses. I doubt that they will beat the Bulls record because they already have 8 losses, and if they loss three more, then they wont be able to beat it. Who knows they could still get up to 70 wins if they try their best. Next warriors game is on Tuesday February 9 against the Houston Rockets on TNT.

David Blatt

David Blatt was the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, until Friday when he got fired. He was replaced by the top assistant, Tyronn Lue. I was pretty surprised and shocked over this sudden decision, but there was a certain reason why he got fired. On Monday, January 18, the Cavaliers lost by 34 points to the Golden State warriors, which affected David Blatt. When they actually started talking about Blatt getting fired was the day when the Cavaliers lost to the Golden State Warriors on Christmas day. It wasn't much about because they lost, but how Blatt was rotating the players around differently and changing the player's roles. Lebron and the team were surprised when they got the shocking news on Friday. Some people are calling Lebron a "coach killer" because they think that he demanded Coach Blatt to get fired. Lebron said that it does suck that he got fired and he didn't have a say on getting him fired. This is true because the owner, David Griffin, confirmed that it was his own decision to fire David Blatt. On Friday, Blatt gave a short speech to the team and thanked everyone for giving him an opportunity to work with the Cavaliers. Tyronn Lue will not be a temporary coach, but will be the full-time coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers

Retiring Kobe

Most of you may know that this is Kobe Bryant's last season playing. He will be retiring once this season ends. He says that once he retires he does not want to be a coach because he wants to tell stories of his journey to others. Bryant has been playing professional basketball for 19 years, which is a pretty good amount of time. Kobe, also known as the "Black Mamba", is retiring for a couple of reasons, but these are the two main reasons. One big reason is that he has many injuries. He has had many injuries and many surgeries, and isn't as fit as when he started playing at the age of 18(Now 37). Another reason is that even though he is young, he's to old to be playing basketball. This branches back to his health because to play you have to be real fit. Once you start aging it is harder and harder. This shooting guard has had an incredible journey. Along the way he won 5 championships, 2 MVP awards, 17 All-Star awards, and much more. Tune in today at 6:30 to see the Kobe and the Lakers play against the Houston Rockets.
